ANNECY
A resort city of canals, mountains and lakes decorated with flowers. It is one of the most memorable cities with a wonderful medieval historic cityscape preservation. Since it is a city in the Alps, it is a sister city of Hakuba Village in Japan. The headquarters of Salomon Ski reside here. It is also close to Albertville, where the Winter Olympics were held.
The cityscape along the canal are known as Venice in France. However, the town planning that adds flowers to canal is unique to this town. The entire city, including the canals, is a pedestrian paradise. There are many highlights of the cityscape of flowers and canals.
The deep color of the outer wall gives an image unique to this region, and the buildings that are close to each other make me strongly aware of the medieval cityscape. Historical buildings are well preserved. The cobblestone road shows the history from the Middle Ages. The pure water and the road where no dust has fallen gives a clean impression.
There are many restaurants and cafes for tourists. At night, it is Illuminated by Cantera to create a wonderful atmosphere. The iron water gate can be transformed into a highlight of the city by decorating it with flowers. The city manages all the flowers. (Seasonal replanting , daily watering, etc.)
There are more than 1000 ivy geranium flower pots around the sidewalk.
The potted flowers that decorate the windows of the market and the cantera for lighting up are perfect for creating an attractive atmosphere. There are many narrow loopholes that penetrate a part of the building that only one person can pass through. This city is a castle town and is considered to have been used as a battlefield.
Flower plantings are eye-catching in the park facing Lake Annecy. It would be similar to azalea planting in Japan. The park's flowerpots are made from a combination of different types of flowers.
A bridge over the estuary where the canal flows into Lake Annecy. Sightseeing boats pass between the canal and the lake through this bridge, named "Bridge of Love". Lake Annecy is famous as the cleanest lake in Europe. However, many private and tourist boats are roaming around, and I'm worried about environmental pollution.(It's a selfish argument because I went on one too ...)
