Sightseeing in Nasca

Keiko Fujimori's sign written on the building

On the second day of sightseeing in Lima, We went to distant Nasca. From Lima to Pisco, where the airport is located, we took a bus 250 km south by the sea.We took a break at the Asian market and took about 4 hours one way, which was the longest drive on this trip. The name of the candidate for the presidential election was written on the building on the way.Fujimori's daughter was also running for election.

Pisco Airport

Pisco is a seaside town near the resort town of Paracas, but it was the hardest hit by the 2007 Peru earthquake. From Pisco Airport, We took a Cessna plane to see Nasca's ground painting. After a flight of about 40 minutes, a mysterious geoglyph awaited on the plain over the mountain.

Nasca ground painting

First I found a whale. I couldn't find the next trapezoid and compass, but I could find astronauts, monkeys, and dogs in that order. Then I found the famous hummingbird tail on the plateau.Hummingbird is a bird dancing on the pickguards of the famous Gibson acoustic guitar. The pilot came closest to the plateau and I could see the whole view of the hummingbird clearly.
After that, We went around to see pictures of various animals and people such as spiders, condors, Alcatraz, parrots, hands and trees. There are roads in some parts of the geoglyph, and there is an observatory next to the hand and the tree.
Peruvian pilot's funny Japanese commentary and planes maneuvering are Insanely good.(◎_◎;)
I was very happy with the geoglyphs, but I was so absorbed in photography that I forgot my favorite jacket on the plane and it was a sad farewell.

Pisco restaurant
Chinese restaurant Royal

After lunch at Pisco with Cuscena beer, We returned to Lima on a long drive again.Dinner was Chinese food at Royal, which seems to be prestigious. Why Chinese food in South America? I thought, but Peru has many Chinese immigrants, and Chinese food is called chifa and is well established. The big round table meal made the conversation between the tour members lively.
