Gion Shirakawa
There was a crowd of people at Tatsumi Shrine in Gion, so I went there and saw two female maiko models, two teachers, and a large number of amateur photographers. It looks like they were holding a model photo session on the street.
There was a beer hall called Malt's Club (as of 2000) on the north side of this place, and it has a wonderful Gion-like atmosphere. It is a place where commemorative photos are often taken with the Tatsumi Bridge over the Shirakawa River and Tatsumi Shrine in the background, so those who have visited Gion will easily recognize this place.
Since I'm an outsider, I took a few pictures from outside so as not to disturb the photo session (sorry for taking pictures).
There were Miyako Odori lanterns hung in front of the teahouse. The powder on her pure white face was dazzling. There were tourists walking around wearing Japanese clothes, but the atmosphere and facial expressions of the maiko models were amazing.
